Why Argentina?
Argentina possesses conditions and capabilities that represent a unique opportunity to integrate into global value chains and play a decisive role in facing the challenges of food and energy security:
- Natural Resources: The country has a vast territory (53% arable land) and is a leading exporter of agri-food products. Likewise, it has highly relevant mining and hydrocarbon areas with significant growth potential.
- Industrial Base: Argentina has a solid industrial base with developments in highly complex sectors such as the automotive industry, agricultural machinery, medical equipment, biotechnology, and Knowledge-Based Services.
- Human Capital: The country boasts highly qualified human resources and an extensive network of scientific research centers. It registers more than 110,000 university graduates per year and ranks first in Latin America for English proficiency.
Why Argentina Today?
The national government has embarked on a path to create favorable conditions for attracting investment. Through Decree 70/2023 and other decisions, trade barriers and restrictions were eliminated to reduce the regulatory burden and ensure business profitability.
President Milei’s Government economic program is based on a pro-market agenda that has managed to stabilize the exchange market, lower inflation, and guarantee legal certainty, generating a favorable climate for private initiative with transparent and predictable rules for investing in Argentina.
Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI)
This direction was reaffirmed with the enactment of Law No. 27,742, which created the RIGI. This regime aims to provide predictability, stability, and legal certainty to projects involving investments exceeding USD 200 million.
The RIGI offers tax, customs, foreign exchange, and regulatory incentives, as well as regulatory stability for 30 years, to projects in eight sectors:
- Forestry
- Tourism
- Infrastructure
- Mining
- Technology
- Steel
- Energy
- Oil & Gas
