The Directive 2802/2023 from the National Immigration Directorate allows foreigners to apply for a visa to enter Argentina under one of the following modalities:
- Full-time student in the official education system (article 7)
- Full-time student in the unofficial education system (article 8)
- International mobility student (article 9)
- Member of a cultural exchange or volunteer program (article 10)
- Member of a student exchange program (article 11)
- Intern (article 12)
- Scholarship holder (article 13)
Cases covered in articles 8 to 13 allow for the processing of a visa for a period of up to one (1) year of stay in Argentina, while article 7 provides for a period of TWO (2) years.
How to apply
Send scanned copies of the following documentation via email to visasctoro@mrecic.gov.ar:
1) Visa application form. Complete all fields except for numbers 50 and 51.
2) Scanned copy of your passport, including all pages with stamps or visas. The passport must have a minimum validity of 6 months from the date of entry into the country, and at least one blank page (two sides) available.
3) Electronic data preloading by the calling educational institution in Argentina. It should include last name, first name, nationality, passport number, date of birth, address, course, and start date.
4) Registration number in RENURE of the Argentine educational institution.
5) Study Program
6) Proof of sufficient financial means for subsistence and accommodation in the country.
7) In the case of cultural exchange, volunteering, student exchange or internship (articles 10 to 12 of Directive DNM 2802/2023), an invitation letter from the inviting Argentine institution or International Mobility Agreement will be required. 8) If the individual is a minor (under 18), written authorization from both parents signed at the Consulate will be required; or before a local notary and subsequently apostilled and translated. Additionally, you must present a birth certificate apostilled with the parents' information.
9) If the individual is over 16 years old and their stay will exceed 6 months, a certificate of criminal records from the countries where they have resided for more than 1 year during the last 3 years will be required. In the case of Canada, this refers to the certificate issued by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, which must be apostilled by Global Affairs Canada.
Additional documentation may be requested.
Once the documentation has been reviewed, you will be asked to pay the visa processing fees and schedule the consular interview. You must attend the interview with the printed visa application, your valid passport, two (2) recent 4x4cm color photographs, taken facing forward with a white background, and any other requested documentation.
To ensure that the visa is granted before the travel date, it is recommended to submit the visa application at least 45 days before the planned travel date.
